Ms. Scott Of counsel to BMSA, and an experienced trial lawyer having over 30 years in civil defense practice. She has managed litigation and tried cases throughout Northern Illinois. She has tried catastrophic injury cases involving trucking and automobile cases, construction, premises liability and product liability cases. In the healthcare medical negligence area, she has handled cases involving various specialties for physicians and nurse practitioners, including: internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, infectious disease, obstetrics and gynecology representing physicians, nurse midwives and APNs, hematology and oncology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, vascular surgery and bariatric surgery, anesthesiology representing physicians and CRNAs and pain management physicians, plastic surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, psychiatry, diagnostic radiology as well as interventional radiology and mammography, and urology. Further she has obtained summary judgments for clients on many issues and different areas of the law, including construction, premises liability and product liability and medical negligence cases.

Ms. Scott has been a frequent lecturer to the insurance industry and legal community and physicians in Illinois on topics such as Litigation in Illinois, Risk Management Issues including preventing Medical Misadventures, Medical Negligence Litigation, and Pain Management cases, Illinois Civil Litigation Procedures, premises liability, construction liability and HIPAA Compliance of Business Associates and Covered Entities.

Ms. Scott is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute. She was inducted into the prestigious Society of Trial Lawyers. Ms. Scott has also been selected as one of Chicago’s Top Rated Lawyers by the Chicago Tribune. Ms. Scott has been an appointed board member of the Village of Kildeer Planning and Zoning Commission since 2009.

Ms. Scott has been AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell for over 20 years.  Ms. Scott also received a 2017 Trial Lawyer Excellence Award from the Jury Verdict Reporter.  The award was a Defense Achievement Award in the area of medical negligence.

Ms. Scott was accepted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) on October 12, 2019, with an induction ceremony on November 21, 2019, in Chicago, IL. ABOTA dedicates itself to the preservation and promotion of the Seventh Amendment, which guarantees the right to civil jury trials. Members in this invitation-only group must have tried multiple civil jury trials to conclusion. There are ABOTA chapters in all 50 states.
