Ms. Maher focuses her legal practice on the litigation of professional liability cases with an emphasis on defending dental, medical and chiropractic malpractice cases from filing of the complaint through trial. She has experience with motion practice, summary judgments and appellate court proceedings. Ms. Maher has represented physicians, dentists, chiropractors and nurses at Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation proceedings. She has also represented healthcare providers defending complaints brought by the Department of Health and Human Services alleging breach of privacy and security rules involving Private Health Information and Electronic Protected Health Information.

Ms. Maher has been a lecturer to dental industry and professional organizations on risk management issues.

Ms. Maher is a member of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Association and the Chicago Dental Society.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Dr. Maher was in private practice as a general dentist and has continued to practice dentistry on a limited basis since becoming a lawyer. Dr. Maher has a special interest in access to care issues and is a member of Dental Advisory Committee and a volunteer dentist at Goldie’s Place in Chicago. She gives an annual lecture to dental and dental hygiene students on management and treatment of homeless population patients. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Policy Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
