Jerome T. Murphy has experience defending diverse tort actions, including medical malpractice, transportation liability, worksite accidents and premises liability. Mr. Murphy’s practice includes defending medical professionals and professional services corporations in Wrongful Death and Survival Act actions. He has experience drafting pleadings, handling fact and expert discovery, taking depositions, and researching and drafting successful dispositive motions and other briefs in high-stakes matters.
Prior to joining Brenner, Monroe, Scott & Anderson, Ltd., Mr. Murphy earned experience litigating commercial and business matters, including claims under the Illinois False Claims Act and post-judgment collection actions.
During his legal studies, Mr. Murphy served as an extern for the Honorable Judge Alexander P. White, Supervising Judge of the Law Division, Tax & Miscellaneous Remedies Section of the Circuit Court of Cook County.
Mr. Murphy attended the University of Illinois College of Law, where he participated in moot court and the Civil Litigation Clinic. As a Supreme Court Rule 711 attorney, Mr. Murphy represented indigent clients in divorce cases and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act suits.
Mr. Murphy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 2011.
